The alert status is now YELLOW…
There is an elevated risk that Hong Kong will be affected by a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours…

Severe Tropical Storm NALGAE (1119/22W) continues to move west/west-northwest… Microwave imagery revealed the LLCC is located to the east of major convection… There is a chance that NALGAE may re-intensify briefly in the next day…

The steering ridge will push NALGAE to the west towards Hainan Island in the coming 24 to 48 hours… This ridge has shown some signs of weakening… NALGAE may turn slightly to the west-northwest/northwest as it approaches Hainan…

Convergence is producing strong convection over the northern part of the South China Sea… Squally showers will affect Hong Kong overnight …

Strong to Gale Force winds can be expected over offshore waters and on high ground today, under the combined effect of NALGAE and northeast monsoon…
