Tropical Storm NOCK-TEN (NinaPH) has intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm…It is moving west-northwest at about 30 km/h under the influence of a well-developed ridge…

Satellite animation shows tightly curved bands wrap around the centre of NOCK-TEN… A 21Z microwave image revealed a developing low level eye structure…  The maximum sustained wind speed near its centre is around 100 km/h (55 kts)…

NOCK-TEN will intensify further into a Typhoon later today…  A slight turn to the west is possible during the weekend… We expect NOCK-TEN to make landfall as a Typhoon on Christmas Day… likely over Bicol Region or its vicinity…

Friends in Eastern Visayas / Bicol Region / Calabarzon / Mimaropa / NCR / Central Luzon should be prepared for Typhoon conditions… Destructive Hurricane Force winds can be expected along the path of NOCK-TEN’s eye… Note that there may be flashfloods and mudslides… Stay tuned to the latest weather report for updated storm surge details…

Get ready… Stay safe… and Merry Christmas…

Estimate time of landfall on Bicol Region: Sunday afternoon to Sunday night

Estimate time of leaving Mimaropa / Calabarzon / Central Luzon: Monday afternoon to Monday night
